Bacchus magazine- winter edition 2024

Bacchus is a magazine devoted to the good life: gourmet culture, inspiring travels, and excellent wine. Their team visits and tests restaurants, bars, and culinary destinations to provide independent reviews of service, quality, and atmosphere. Each issue blends wine tours and journeys with thoughtful analysis—covering everything from the business idea and production process to the final experience of food and wine lovers.

For the Winter 2024 issue, I was commissioned to create an illustration for the theme “Fermentation beyond the trend.” After proposing two concepts, the selected one was a playful holiday pattern of flying jars filled with different ferments—surrounded by cinnamon sticks, stars, and little fir trees.

In Bulgaria, it’s a beloved tradition for grandmothers to stock the pantry with homemade winter preserves: jars of pickled vegetables, fruit compotes, lutenitsa, pickles, hot peppers, mixed pickled salads, and countless other homemade specialties. I wanted to celebrate exactly that—those jars of memories that warm our childhood and invite the younger generation to rediscover and reinvent these so-called “forgotten” treasures.

After all, who wouldn’t want a jar of magic that tastes like home
